It’s great to have ya’ll here to see the fresh new look and updated information. It’s been a busy time for me at “Carl Dixon Central”. As many of you know, because I can’t stop talking about it, I finally released my new cd Lucky Dog. I love this album! The more I listen to it the more I think it’s the best work I’ve done to date. I hope you’ll feel that way too. You can hear samples and even purchase it from my new publishing company website at: www.diamondditty.com
So, let’s see, what else has been happening. Well…in about January, some great people banded together to launch the beginning of the Carl Dixon Project. What the heck is that you might be wondering? It’s like this. I had so many things going on, so many ideas about things I wanted to do, and so little of me to go around that it just made sense to join forces with some very talented people. The results have been very pleasing as evidenced by my new site for just one example.
I continue to write more chapters for my book, Strange Way to Live. I think we’ve found an editor who could be the right fit. He’s a big Canadian music fan and certainly knows his way around the literary world. We’re meeting next week so we’ll see what comes of that. I’m almost ready to set that wordy birdie free from the nest.
Not sure if I mentioned this before but I got started along the path of inspirational speaking last year with a couple of appearances. They went well and served to boost my confidence. Now I feel stronger than ever that this is a viable direction. As a matter of fact, I’m speaking on March 9th in front of an audience from a variety of health organizations, businesses and media. We’ll be taping the event so you can look forward to seeing part of it on CD TV. How cool is that? Carl Dixon television - there is no end to the fun.
This year is shaping up nicely for gigs. Keeping myself good and busy. Check the Tour Dates page on the site for details. I’ll also send out Tweets and Facebook messages to let you know of any last minute or new gigs added. One that’s particularly exciting is Coney Hatch in the UK. It’s an exclusive and about time too! It’s October 23 at this year’s Firefest in Nottingham. Yup, that’s right, Andy, Steve, Dave and I rocking in England. We had so much fun doing the few Toronto dates last summer we just had to jump at the offer.
Now, for the big news; in the category of trying something completely different, I auditioned for a role in a production being put on by the Haliburton Highlands Summer Theatre and….I got the lead. I know, right?! I can’t wait. This is totally new territory for me but, I’m ready for the challenge. I had to rearrange a few things in order to meet the rehearsal demands but I did it. We start rehearsals in May. I’ll keep you posted on that and get more information to you as I get it.
Overall, life is grand. This morning when I opened my eyes the sun was already up. That’s a good sign. Spring is a comin’ and I can’t wait. Lots going on. Lots to do. Lots to look forward to.
Cheers….Carl
